Adult Education

The Adult Education Committee is seeking to create new opportunities for adult education projects at CUCC. A wide variety of opportunities already exist, and we hope to publicize these and increase awareness throughout the congregation regarding activities that are already in place. Many of these are described on the Groups and Projects page, including a Wednesday evening Bible Study group, the Sunday Forum, Taizé worship, and the Monday Lunch Group. Additional opportunites and activities are already in place, such as the Sunday Morning Bible Study group, but don't yet have a presence on this web site. Our goal is to give better publicity to these things already in place, and to facilitate members to form new activities. This means we will be soliciting ideas for

  • New projects such as discussion or study groups, film series, workshops on spiritual growth, prayer groups, etc.
  • Leaders who will plan and lead such activities
  • Participants for such activities
  • Times and locations for activities

The Adult Education Committee is chaired by Ellen Beidler, and members include Pat Spearman, Ann and Joe Retzer, Lavon Page, and Marty Lamb. Several other CUCC members are staying "tuned in" to the work of the committee and contributing ideas and feedback.

In this early stage of the committee's work, we encourage you to contact any of the committee members listed above and share ideas or suggestions regarding Adult education opportunities you would like to see at CUCC. We will appreciate comments regarding such things as

  • Optimal meeting times
  • Meeting locations (Would you prefer "in church" activities or home groups?)
  • Type of activity (discussion, book study, spiritual practice, film series, speaker series, etc.)
  • Ongoing activities (of indefinite duration) vs. limited duration activities (for example an activity that might meet weekly for six weeks and then cease)

We also encourage you to study the opportunities described in the monthly church newsletter and church calendar.
