Forum – "Justice in a Changing Climate - Climate change: some things we can do." This Sunday, April 28, Dan McFarland, Director of Business Development with Southern Energy Management http://www.southern-energy.com, and Sally Robertson with North Carolina Community Solar will be our guest speakers, offering information addressing the question, "Solar Panels for CUCC?" Ron Howell and Skip Stoddard will facilitate the discussion. Vaughan Fellowship Hall.
Keeping Homeless Families Together – We're collecting items a family will need as they move from homelessness into housing - things like soap, toothbrushes, a broom. There are posters in the Narthex and Fellowship Hall with post-it notes with items needed for welcome baskets for these families. Please take a note or two and bring the item back to the church by April 28th. Contact Gray Woodard(COM) with questions.
Sisters in Spirit (SIS) –Have you ever had someone tell you, or perhaps told yourself, that "You're not talented enough to…” “You can't…” “You're too old to…” “Who do you think you are?" or "You're not good enough to..."? These statements may come from a "Creativity Monster" that bashes your artist within. This month's SIS meeting on Tuesday, April 30th, may just be for YOU!! We'll visualize our individual creativity monsters on paper or in sculpture form, and destroy them or tame them and make them our mascots. If you have some items in your home you'd like to recycle or repurpose by making them part of a "monster,” bring them with you. We'll also have paper, crayons, glue and other tools available. All female artists and non-artists in the church are welcome to come and play. Bring a dish to share for our potluck at 7:00pm, and then we'll enter into our imaginings! If you have toiletries to donate to the women’s shelter on Cabarrus Street, please bring them to the meeting.
First Wednesday Potluck –The final First Wednesday Potluck for this half of the year will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, 6:30pm, VFH. Let’s enjoy our culinary creations in an atmosphere of gentle fellowship. All are welcome.

Save the Date! - ONA and CUCCwill once again participate inOutRaleigh! on Saturday, May 4, from 9:00am – 5:00pm. OutRaleigh! is a family friendly and fun event held on Fayetteville Street, downtown Raleigh. It is sponsored by the LGBT Center of Raleigh. WE NEED HELP at the CUCC table. Many, many folks come up and tell us thank you for reminding the LGBT community that God loves them, too! Contact Maegan Mohr (919-650-1964) or Cathy Marshall (919-395-2600) if you can help out. You’ll have a great time!!!
Common Woman Chorus Concert – The decidedly uncommon women of CWC are preparing for their 30th anniversary concert which will be held on Saturday, May 4, 7:00pm, at the United Church of Chapel Hill. The concert will also feature a reception at intermission honoring the chorus and the retirement of its musical director, Cindy Bizzell. Cindy will continue singing with the chorus next year. Joan McAllister is retiring from singing with them after this year. CUCC folks will remember that Cindy facilitated our fall retreat. Please mark your calendars to come enjoy music and fellowship. The concert is free. Raffle tickets will be sold ($10 each or 3 for $25) as a fundraiser for the ongoing expenses of CWC. Prizes have not yet been announced, but there is rumor of a trip! Contact Joan McAllisterif you have any questions.
Fundraiser in Remembrance of Brother - (From Jill Sherling): Hello all! My name is Jill Sherling, Teresa and Mary Worley's mom. I have decided to raise money and run a half marathon for Leukemia & Lymphoma's Team in Training in remembrance of my brother, Cory Sherling, who lost his battle with Lymphoma last June. The event is the Savannah Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in November 2013. My first fundraiser will be in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS! I will be having a yard sale on Saturday, May 4. Please consider: donating items for the sale, stopping by to shop, and/or coming by just to visit. Donations could be brought to the camp out this evening, to church on Sunday, or I could come pick up. All proceeds will go directly into my fundraising goal. Thanks in advance for all your support and encouragement!
