Living your faith!
- Repair something. Volunteer your handy skills (from carpentry to painting to light plumbing) to fix occasional “this and that”s. Work on your own or with someone else.
- Roll up your sleeves at a seasonal workday when we tackle our chores inside and out; supervised children are welcome! Spring and fall, one Saturday morning 9-noon.
- Be on-call for emergency repairs.
- Be our computer tech. Offer your know-how to keep the computers running.
- Tend the Memorial Meditation Garden for one month by weeding and watering from our rain barrels.
- Make our “green” vision come true; choose an item from the list of upgrades and retrofits from our energy audit.
- Do research and solicit estimates on a replacement or upgrade project.
- Be the liaison with contractors on a replacement or upgrade project.
- Report a repair need so we know what needs done.
- Help with decision-making as a member of the Property Ministry.

What does the Property Ministry do?
We connect the skills of members to the repairs and improvements needed for our building and grounds. Equally important, we connect our people to each other. Increasingly our communication is by email, although you don’t have to use email to offer your help or participate in the ministry.
We have a long punch list of repairs and upgrades that are natural to a 50 year old building. Three big projects are improving the sanctuary lighting to increase visibility, replacing the narthex doors, and installing a venting turbine in the Pilgrim House attic. The more we do ourselves, the less money is required. In addition, we need to keep up with the regular chores of any building: touch-up painting, window-washing, gutter cleaning, etc.
What do you like about serving on the Property Minstry?
“I have been in churches that have an edifice complex – the building and everything in it is the fanciest thing around. I appreciate that our church has not done that – ever. We have a window of opportunity right now to bring things to a standard of comfort and beauty that is acceptable. That is really exciting to me.” - Joan
