“Everybody has that little spark of God in them…. It’s a new chance to meet a new person, someone who is seeking something, like you. Who knows? You might end up with a very good friend, another seeker.”
-- Sue
Live your faith!
- Say hello to someone you don’t know yet. Whether new to the church or a long-timer, everyone wants to be noticed and wanted.
- Invite newcomers to Fellowship. Introduce them to someone else with a connection: home town, occupation, wanderlust, avocation.
- Widen your circle at Fellowship. Decide to meet one new-to-you person each month.
- Build connections. Send Steve Halsted an email or phone message with news, whether newcomer or long-timer. Names, background, interests, needs and desires. The tidbits help him help us care for each other.
- Become a greeter just a few times a year.

What do the Greeters do?
We greet! At the 10:30am worship service, we arrive at 10:15 and begin saying “hello” in the narthex. We help newcomers find their way around the building and new families discover where their children will go to church school. If a newcomer seems inclined to linger after worship, we invite them to join us at Fellowship and introduce them to others. Our job is to help people (newcomers and long-timers) feel at home.
When do you meet?
We don’t! Each greeter chooses one or two months a rotating schedule – about four times a year. He or she is responsible for greeting at all of the 10:30 worship services. We swap with each other when schedule conflicts arise.
How do you connect to the congregation?
We are a committee of the Welcoming, Fellowship and Growth Ministry.
Why do you like serving on this committee?
“I enjoy being the greeter because I get to see everybody who comes to the service. I attempt to learn every one's name and make a personal connection to visitors.” Jeanne Ledbetter
