Questions for Wake County Commissioners

These questions focus on the advisory referendum to fund transit in Wake County.

Referendum:  The Wake County Board of Commissioners and the GoTriangle Board of Trustees have each approved placing an advisory referendum on the November 8, 2016, general election ballot in Wake County. In accordance with N.C.G.S. §105-509(b) and §N.C.G.S. §163-287, and the Resolutions passed by the respective boards of Wake County and GoTriangle, the following shall be on the ballot:

One-Half Percent Local Sales and Use Tax:
One-half percent (1/2%) local sales and use taxes, in addition to the current local sales and use taxes, to be used only for public transportation systems.
[ ] FOR  [ ] AGAINST

Questions for candidates:  Do you support or oppose the Wake County referendum on funding for transportation?
If you support it, what are the greatest positive outcomes you anticipate?
If you oppose it, how else can we meet the needs for energy- and cost-efficient transportation for all of Wake County’s citizens?
