Sunday Morning Bible Study

Read and discuss the Bible in a small group.
9:15-10:15 a.m.
Bradow Room
Facilitated by Ellen Beidler and Bill Lamb

The Sunday Morning Bible Study is a very open and inclusive group. We would love to have anyone join us whenever the spirit moves! It is most rewarding to join the group on a consistent basis but "drop-in" visitors are welcome any time. We meet Sunday mornings at 9:30 in the Bradow Room. If you show up at the stroke of 9:30 and no one is there yet, make yourself comfortable--someone will be along soon.

Texts of Terror
by Phyllis Trible
Join us this fall as we explore “Texts of Terror”: Four Forgotten Women in Hebrew Scripture as analyzed by Phyllis Trible through the lens of feminist literary criticism.

All are welcome to explore these Old Testament stories together: struggling with meaning, seeing connections, and debating understandings. This will be good way into the Hebrew Bible for people who haven't tried reading it in a while (or ever). Phyllis Trible defies the belief that these ancient stories make sense only in their historical context and makes a good case for their timelessness. We will take time to read and explore each story and will also draw on some related literary passages in other books.
