Music at CUCC

The choirs at Community UCC is directed by Anne Moorman-Smith, and feature Doug Barrick as organist and pianist.

The Susie Allen Choir performs traditional church music during 10:30 worship at least twice each month. And about twice annually the choir provides sings the sermon through a cantata or music with a special theme.  The practice schedule (generally the Wednesdays before second and fourth Sundays and Sunday before worship) is on the CUCC calendar.

The Children's Choir sing joyful songs about God's love about four times a year.  They practice with Miss Anne and Mr. Monty during Sunday School.

The Bluegrass Choir leads congregational singing once a month using the New Bluegrass Hymnal.  Pick up instrumentalists join a core ensemble of guitars, flute, and violin.  Bring your instrument or add your voice.  Contact Monty Smith for their next practice date.

We know that many of you can really sing out when you want to.  Our choirs will welcome any and all closet and shower singers.  Believe me, our wonderful choir director has the skills to teach any and all to sing.

Our congregation is rich with vocal and instrumental soloists and small vocal groups, too.  Our worship is enhanced by the talents of members of all ages; in the past year we have heard from pianists, a double bass player, a cellist, a Native American flutist, a classical violinist, a folk trio, and an extended family bringing us music from the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Talk to Doug Barrick to schedule a time to offer your musical gifts.

Musical selections performed by the choirs and by other musical ensembles at CUCC are found in the music portion of the CUCC archive.
